Sources

We do not do our own field reporting. Every story is based on one or more reports already published by news outlets, and each story page names and links those sources.

Use of artificial intelligence (AI)

AI is used to write summaries, shorten headlines and choose topics. It is instructed to use only the reported facts, but mistakes can happen — so every story invites readers to check the original sources.

Fairness and decency

• Stories are written in neutral language without taking political or personal sides; we do not use clickbait headlines.
• We never reveal the identity of victims of rape or sexual abuse, or of children; some such stories are not published at all.
• We do not publish gambling or betting news or promotion.

Photos and videos

The source of any photo used on a news card is written on the card. If a photo's owner asks, we remove it promptly. Videos are embedded from YouTube, never downloaded or re-uploaded.

Corrections

If you find a mistake, tell us via mr.orin@mashruqeorin.com or our Facebook page (Messenger). We check it and correct or remove the story within 24 hours.

Importance and breaking news

A story's importance depends on how many outlets reported it and how much it matters to the public (accidents, weather, health and so on). Urgent news confirmed by several sources is marked "breaking".
